How do we provide a better website experience for users looking to take positive action towards the refugee crisis?

OPPORTUNITY
MMA’s microsite informs and educates users through case studies, reports, newsletters, and more. As the site gains more resources, users need a way to find these more efficiently.

OUTCOME
An update to their microsite that adds a new filtering system for discovering resources, as well as quality of life updates to accompany this.

ABOUT
Moving Minds Alliance is an initiative that’s set up to provide young children affected by crisis and displacement with the support they need. Drawing from on-the-ground experience, MMA calls for radical changes to the humanitarian system in order to raise the life prospects for young refugees on the move around the world.

The masthead was refreshed to capture the story of who MMA are, with the intention that the reader can read more when they scroll to the next content block. The navigation bar was newly added to contain social links and add in page anchors for faster navigation down the page.

The key part of the project was getting the filtering system designed correctly. Over time, MMA may need to expand their filter terms, so it was imperative to us to create a very simply designed system that could be replicated if needs be.

Toggling “see more” and “see less” can provide the user with resources at their own discretion. These have simple tags which help differentiate them between their type, date of creation, and author. These can be seen in simple dropdown menus which can also be switched on an off, or fully reset from the start if needs be.

A potential area that was designed with the future in mind, was the possibility of enacting a fully functional search page that would enable more precise results.

As aforementioned the new navigation bar means adding sections like these in the future will make for a more efficient user experience.
